MA in Intercultural German Studies

MA in Intercultural German Studies

A Waterloo-Mannheim joint graduate program

International

Our new international joint MA in Intercultural German Studies (IcGS) is a truly integrated program that offers you a rare opportunity of immersion in two academic-cultural environments. During this master’s degree, you would spend one year at the University of Waterloo and one year at the Universität Mannheim, earning dual credits from the two universities. This seamless international accreditation means you would have equal degree recognition in Europe and North America.

Interdisciplinary

The joint IcGS program offers a broad-based interdisciplinary approach to German language and cultural studies, including the study of media and literature. You will develop the linguistic, research and intercultural skills necessary for succeeding in today’s knowledge-based society. In fact, the IcGS degree is specifically designed to enable skills transferability and career mobility.

Transatlantic community

Building on the strength of 35 years of student and faculty exchanges between Waterloo and Mannheim, the IcGS program launches from a solid foundation of friendship and cooperation between its partner universities. Yet more integrated than an exchange term, this MA is the first joint transatlantic humanities degree available in Canada.

The University of Waterloo is now accepting applications for the Intercultural German Studies, Master of Arts (Joint degree with Universität Mannheim) degree program. The program is fully accredited in both Ontario and Germany.
